When a sound with a notification box appears on the arrival of a conversation message however having beeps sound at each notification will get irritating :( . Now, You do not need to worry abundant or flip your master volume off for this matter :D , as there exists a simple way to flip it off.
Follow the steps :
Step#1:
Click on the "Setting Button" on the right side of facebook page and then go to "Account Settings".

Click on the Notifications tab shown on the left aspect of the Account Settings window.
Step#3:
Click the read link next to On Facebook and uncheck the box that says "Play a sound once every new notification is received". Then click on Save Changes.
